If you have been homeschooling and the daily teaching load is becoming hard to sustain, Novatio is a Cognia-accredited virtual private school for grades 2–8 where certified teachers handle core academics while your family keeps the schedule flexibility you have already built.
Novatio School is a Cognia-accredited, private virtual school serving students in grades 2 through 8. Students complete approximately two hours of focused, personalized academics each morning with support from certified teachers, then spend their afternoons in live clubs built around practical skills and real-world challenges. For families who have been homeschooling, it offers a way to hand the academic heavy lifting to trained educators without giving up the rhythm and freedom that made homeschooling worth it in the first place.
Homeschooling works because it puts the family in control of pacing, environment and values. What it also does, over time, is put the full weight of curriculum planning, daily instruction, assessment and accountability on one or two parents. That load compounds as students get older, as subjects get harder and as younger siblings need attention too. Most parents who reach out to Novatio are not burned out on the idea of homeschooling. They are burned out on doing all of it alone, every single day.
Novatio handles the five core academic subjects: Language, Reading, Math, Social Studies and Science. Each subject block runs on a shared daily schedule, but every student works at their own level within it. A student who is ready for advanced math works on advanced math. A student who needs more support in reading gets a different reading plan. AI works behind the scenes to build and adjust each student's academic path using real-time assessment data, while certified teachers provide direct guidance, monitor progress and step in when a student gets stuck. Parents do not write lesson plans, grade work or source curriculum for core subjects.
It is a real school with real teachers. Instruction is delivered through high-quality video lessons and adaptive learning platforms, but students are not left alone with a screen. Certified teachers provide personalized intervention, academic support and the kind of human accountability that keeps a student moving forward. As one Novatio parent put it:
“This is NOT an AI school, this is a school that applies features of AI to customized learning for each child. The teachers and administration feel like part of our extended family, and best of all, the friendships made at school are organic and natural.”Afternoons are spent in live clubs where students work on meaningful projects alongside other students, coached by teachers in real time.
This is one of the situations Novatio is specifically built for. A student may be working at one level in math and a completely different level in reading, and the academic model treats those as separate tracks. During the math block, one student might be strengthening multiplication skills while another is working through algebra. No one is held back in a subject where they are ready to move ahead, and no one is pushed past a foundation they have not yet built. For homeschool families who have already discovered that their child is uneven across subjects, that kind of subject-level personalization tends to feel like a relief rather than a novelty.
NWEA MAP data from Novatio's first cohort showed that students learned 4.6 times faster than expected during the measured period. Individual results vary, and that figure reflects the first cohort rather than a guaranteed outcome for every student. As a more specific example, one Novatio student moved from the 8th to the 80th percentile in reading over one year, based on NWEA MAP scores. That is one student's experience, not a universal promise. What the data does suggest is that focused, personalized academics with real teacher support can produce meaningful growth in a concentrated amount of time. You can learn more about how the academic model works on the curriculum page.
Yes. Novatio accepts students without academic entry requirements, and many of the supports that students with learning differences need are built into the daily model rather than added only after a problem surfaces. Individual pacing by subject, frequent breaks, short focused session blocks, text-to-speech and direct teacher monitoring are part of how the school operates. For students who need more targeted support, Novatio offers an additional Special Education Support Program. For students with an IEP or 504, the additional costs for those services are covered by the state. If you want to talk through your child's specific situation before applying, the right first step is to book a 1:1 call with Karissa.
In Arizona, every K through 12 resident is eligible for the Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account program regardless of income or disability status. Novatio's Arizona tuition is $7,500 per school year. The state deposits education funds into your child's ESA, tuition is transferred to Novatio through your ClassWallet account, and your family does not pay Novatio tuition out of pocket. Any ESA funds remaining after tuition stay in the family's account for other approved educational expenses. In Texas, Novatio's tuition is $8,500 per school year. Texas families must separately qualify for and receive a TEFA award. For students who receive a TEFA award, it can cover Novatio's tuition in full. Novatio accepts students without academic entry requirements, but TEFA funding is not universally awarded and Novatio does not control TEFA approval. Details about additional support services and funding are available if your child has an IEP or documented disability.
The application takes under two minutes, has no fee and requires no commitment. If you have specific questions about your child's academic level, learning differences or whether the schedule will fit your family's life, booking a 1:1 call with Karissa is the more useful first move. She can walk you through how the model works in practice, what the enrollment process looks like and whether Novatio is likely to be a good fit before you fill out a single form.
