Novatio School is a Cognia-accredited virtual private school serving students in grades 2 through 8 across Texas, including Frisco. Students complete approximately two focused hours of personalized core academics each morning, then spend their afternoons in live, teacher-led clubs built around real projects and practical skills. For families who qualify, the Texas Education Freedom Account covers Novatio's $8,500 annual tuition in full, so the school is available without an out-of-pocket tuition payment.

What does an online school in Frisco actually look like day to day?

Each morning, students work through Novatio's five core subjects — language, reading, math, social studies, and science — on a shared schedule, but every student works at their own level within each subject. One student might be strengthening multiplication while another in the same math block is working on algebra. AI works behind the scenes to build each student's academic plan using real-time assessment data, placing students at the level where they are ready to learn and adjusting the plan as they progress. Certified teachers are available throughout the day to provide guidance, answer questions, and intervene when a student gets stuck. Academics are designed to be finished by lunch.

How is Novatio different from other virtual schools Frisco families have tried?

Many families in Frisco have tried a virtual program and found that it offered monitoring without real teaching — recorded lessons, limited feedback, and little help when a student fell behind. Novatio is built differently. Instruction is delivered through high-quality video lessons and adaptive platforms such as Math Academy, Zearn, and MobyMax. Students do not have access to an AI chatbot during academic instruction. Certified teachers provide direct academic support, personalized intervention, and real accountability. As one Novatio parent put it: 'This is NOT an AI school, this is a school that applies features of AI to customized learning for each child.'

What kind of results have Novatio students seen?

NWEA MAP data from Novatio's first cohort showed that students learned 4.6 times faster than expected during the measured period. One Novatio student moved from the 8th to the 80th percentile in reading over one year, based on NWEA MAP scores. These are individual and cohort examples, not guarantees — individual results vary. Novatio's academic model is designed around the goal of helping students learn twice as much in approximately two focused hours, freeing the rest of the day for clubs, family time, and independent pursuits. The school is Cognia-accredited, which means its academic quality meets the same independent standard used to evaluate traditional schools. You can read more about the Novatio curriculum to understand how personalized placement and mastery-based progression work in practice.

What happens in the afternoons, and why does it matter for Frisco students?

Afternoons at Novatio are structured around live clubs that rotate roughly every nine to eleven weeks. Each club is built around a real skill, a meaningful challenge, and a project with a measurable outcome. Past clubs have included The Summit, where students research a global issue and defend the side they personally disagree with; Wealth Builders, which uses a life simulation to teach budgeting, saving, and investing; and Game On, where students build and publish a Scratch game for a real online audience. Students participate in two clubs per session. Not every club runs every session, so current availability is confirmed during the admissions process. As one parent shared: 'The teachers and administration feel like part of our extended family, and best of all, the friendships made at school are organic and natural.'

Does Novatio support students with IEPs, 504 plans, or learning differences?

Yes. Many of the supports Frisco families with learning differences are looking for are built into Novatio's daily model rather than added only after a student begins to struggle. Individual pacing by subject, frequent breaks, short focused session blocks, text-to-speech, and regular teacher check-ins are part of how the school operates. For students who need more, Novatio's special education support program offers case management, executive-function coaching, targeted reading support, and one-on-one specialist-led dyslexia intervention. Additional support services carry an additional cost. For students with an IEP or 504, those additional costs are covered by the state. Families are encouraged to discuss documentation and program fit directly with the admissions team before enrolling.

How does TEFA funding work for an online school in Frisco?

Texas Education Freedom Accounts are administered through the Texas Education Agency. Novatio accepts students without academic entry requirements, but TEFA funding is not universally awarded — Texas families must separately qualify for and receive a TEFA award. For students who receive a TEFA award, TEFA can cover Novatio's $8,500 tuition in full. After receiving an award, families select Novatio through the TEFA portal and complete Novatio's enrollment requirements. Because application dates and portal instructions change, Frisco families should confirm current timelines directly with Novatio or through the TEA. Novatio's acceptance of your child does not guarantee a TEFA award, and Novatio does not control TEFA approval.

How do Frisco families get started with Novatio?

The application takes under two minutes, has no commitment, and costs nothing to submit. Novatio has no academic entry requirements, so all applicants are accepted regardless of grades, test scores, or prior school performance. If you have questions about TEFA funding, an existing IEP or 504, or whether Novatio is the right fit for your child's specific situation, a 1:1 admissions call is the fastest way to get clear answers. You can start an application or book a call with Karissa to talk through your family's needs before making any decision.
